My insurance doesn't cover therapy, what is the cost?
I offer a sliding scale to those who need it. Otherwise the initial fee is $175, intake and $125 for following sessions.
Where are you located?
My office is located at CT Psychiatric and Wellness Center in Hamden, Ct at 2446 Whitney Ave. The building is on the corner of Whitney Ave and Colonial Drive and the parking entrance is directly off of Whitney Ave. We are located on the second floor which is accessible by both elevator and stairs.
Are you on any bus routes?
New Haven busses 228, 271, 229 will drop you a couple of blocks from the office with sidewalks from the stop to the office.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, currently I am only accepting Medicaid & Cigna, but am in the process of becoming panelled for Anthem, Magellan, Anthem and Aetna.
What do you specialize in?
I specialize in working with queer folx, addiction, religious recovery and issues of identity. I have a specialization in sex therapy and addiction.
How long are sessions?
Sessions range from 50-90 minutes depending on the issue.
What methods do you use in practice?
I believe folx bodies hold the wisdom and keys to unlock the freedom they desire so each session is intimately tailored to the needs of the individual. I pull from an eclectic blend in interpersonal, somatic/embodiment work, narrative, CBT, movement, person-centered, gestalt, and family system theories. I am trans-friendly, sex-positive, trauma-informed and empath sensitive.
How often will we meet?
The frequency we meet will depend on what issues are going on. We could meet anywhere from 2x a week for more intensive work to once every few months for more maintaining work.
You keep mentioning "whiteness," what does that look like?
Whiteness looks like:
Black and white, either/or thinking
Perpetual sense of urgency
Scarcity mindness, power hoarding
Gender binary with strict gender roles
The right to comfort
Fear of open conflict
Entitlement to take of time, space, conversation
“Good vibes only”
A belief that there is an ability to be objective
