My insurance doesn't cover therapy, what is the cost?
I offer a sliding scale to those who need it. Otherwise the initial fee is $250, intake and $175 for following sessions.
Where are you located?
I am currently only offering services through teleheath (video) or in outdoor venues for speaking/education events.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I accept Medicaid/Husky, Magellan, Cigna, Aetna, Optum and Anthem/BCBS.
How long are sessions?
Sessions range from 50-90 minutes depending on the issue.
What do you specialize in?
I specialize in working with folx who have experienced trauma, queer folx, those processing religious trauma and issues of identity--particularly around race, gender & sexuality. I also have a specialization in sex therapy and addiction; and treat depression and anxiety.
What methods do you use in practice?
I believe our bodies hold the wisdom and keys to unlock the freedom they desire so each session is intimately tailored to the needs of the individual. I largely treat trauma & dissociation through EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Re-processing) & IFS (Internal Family Systems). I also pull from an eclectic blend of interpersonal, somatic/embodiment work, narrative, CBT, movement, person-centered, gestalt, and family system theories. I am trans-friendly, sex-positive, trauma-informed and empath sensitive.
How often will we meet?
The frequency of our meetings will depend on what issues are going on. We could meet anywhere from 2x a week for more intensive work to once every few months for more maintenance work.
Do you write referral letters for Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and/or other surgeries?
Yes. I try not to stand in the way of you getting the healthcare you need, but I do ask that we are able to take some time for me to get to know you so that I may ethically write the referrals.
You keep mentioning "whiteness," what does that look like?
Whiteness looks like: Perfectionism, Black and white, either/or thinking, A perpetual sense of urgency, Scarcity mindset/power hoarding, Gender binary with strict gender roles, The right to comfort, Fear of open conflict, Individualism, Entitlement to take of time, space, conversation, “Good vibes only;” A belief that there is an ability to be objective in all things.
Please note that all services are virtual unless otherwise noted.
